Freedom's Pre-Existing Medical Travel Insurance
We specialise in providing travel insurance solutions to people with medical conditions and have been doing so for many years. We pride ourselves on great customer service and strive to help people get the cover they need. Our policies are constructed to cover most pre-existing medical conditions and more importantly, designed to respond should an emergency arise on holiday.
We’re fair too! You will be pleased to learn that we base our quotes on current health status and you will be surprised at the amount of medical conditions we cover free of charge.

We will do our best to provide cover for you. If we can't, then we will find alternative cover for you or at least point you in the right direction.
Why Cover Pre-Existing Medical Conditions?
It is especially important if you live with pre-existing medical conditions to ensure you are fully covered. Travel insurance is all about protecting you on holiday, so to buy a policy that excludes cover for pre-existing conditions, defeats the purpose. It is fair to say, people generally do not book holidays with the intention of having to cancel or receive emergency medical treatment abroad but should these unfortunate events occur, and if they in anyway related to the existing medical conditions declared to us, Freedom’s pre-existing travel insurance will step in and protect you from financial loss (terms and conditions apply).
It can be easy to forget medical conditions that are well managed and have little impact on your daily living but please do tell us about them and any medication you are prescribed. We are not looking to load your premium but simply make sure there are no gaps in your cover, so you can travel with peace of mind.
You may also want to consider putting travelling companions on the same specialist policy. Although they may not have any pre-existing conditions, should your medical conditions cause any trip complications, they will also be entitled to claim for cancellation, curtailment and other necessary expenses (terms and conditions apply).

Illness and accidents can be traumatic and expensive abroad, so making sure you travel with adequate cover is our priority!
Applying for Pre-Existing Medical Travel Insurance
We aim to make the process of getting travel insurance convenient and as stress free as possible. You can choose to get a quote online using our ‘Get a Quote’ facility (top right) where you will be prompted to answer questions specific to your diagnosed medical conditions. However, we completely understand this method of obtaining travel insurance may not suit everyone. Medical conditions can be complex and you may feel more comfortable speaking to one of Freedom’s medically aware Travel Insurance Advisers who can guide you through the medical screening process.
We do not require doctors’ letters but ask that you inform us of:
A) Any respiratory condition (relating to lungs or breathing), heart condition, stroke or cancer for which you have EVER received treatment (including surgery, tests or investigations by your doctor or a consultant/ specialist and prescribed drugs or medication)
B) Any medical condition for which you have received surgery, in-patient treatment or investigations (other than check-ups) in a hospital or clinic within the last twelve months or for which you are taking prescribed drugs.
We unfortunately cannot offer cover for the following circumstances:
- Any medical condition for which you have received a terminal prognosis
- Any medical condition you are aware of but for which you have not had a diagnosis
- Any medical condition for which you are on a waiting list for or have knowledge of the need of surgery, treatment or investigation at a hospital, clinic or nursing home
