Policy cover, terms and conditions will vary between travel insurance policies and insurers. Customers should review the policy wording applicable to their cover to understand the specifics of cover and exclusions.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office advice for these destinations is currently as follows:
- France – the FCDO has not advised against travel. Wildfires can occur during the summer months, with the highest risk in the south, along the Mediterranean coast, in Corsica, and in the south-west during hot, dry weather.
- Spain – the FCDO has not advised against travel. Wildfires happen often in Spain, including on the islands, during the summer months.
- Greece – the FCDO has not advised against travel. There is a high risk of wildfires during the summer season, running from April to October.
Please continue to monitor FCDO – Foreign Travel Advice for your specific destination, as advice can change at short notice. What this means if you are travelling to these destinations:
- Check the FCDO advice for your exact destination before you book, and again shortly before you travel.
- If your destination, itinerary or travel dates have changed, contact us to update your policy accordingly.
- Register your mobile phone for local emergency alerts where available, and make a note of local emergency numbers (112 works across the EU) in case you need them.
Important reminders:
- Policy terms relating to natural events such as wildfires can vary between insurers – please check your policy wording for the specifics of your cover.
- There is no cover for events that were public knowledge at the time a trip was booked or a travel insurance policy was purchased.
- Customers travelling with a pre-existing medical condition should ensure their policy reflects both their health and their itinerary, particularly for warmer climates.
