Where Is Warm in March? Top Destinations for Early Spring Sun

March is a great time to plan a trip. The days are longer, winter is coming to an end, and it’s an ideal point in the year for a break. Whether you’re travelling before the Easter rush or during the school holidays, you’ll often find fewer crowds and better value in March.

Where Is Hot in March?

If you’re looking for guaranteed sunshine, long-haul destinations are usually the best option. Parts of Asia, Africa and the Caribbean experience warm, dry weather at this time of year.

Vietnam

  • March is one of the best months to visit Vietnam, with warm temperatures and relatively low rainfall. Conditions are generally good for sightseeing, from busy cities to quieter rural areas. Beach weather is also reliable in the south.

South Africa

  • In many regions, March brings settled weather and fewer tourists. It’s a strong month for safari, with good wildlife viewing conditions. If you prefer the coast, Cape Town offers beaches, vineyards and a well-known food scene.

Cambodia

  • March is typically hot and dry, making it a good time to explore Cambodia’s temples and coastline. Inland sites are best visited earlier in the day, while the islands and beaches provide an easy option for relaxation.

Where Is Warm in Europe in March?

While much of Europe is still transitioning out of winter, you can find mild temperatures and good levels of sunshine in some southern destinations, without the peak-season crowds.

Tenerife

  • Located off the coast of North Africa, Tenerife benefits from a mild climate throughout the year. In March, temperatures are typically warm enough for time on the beach, walking routes through volcanic landscapes, or relaxing by the pool. It’s also easily accessible from the UK.

Algarve

  • March brings bright days and a quieter atmosphere across the Algarve. It’s a good time for coastal walks, golf and exploring local towns without the summer crowds. Restaurants and beaches are generally less busy, making it a more relaxed time to visit.

Family Holidays in March & Easter

Travelling with children? March offers a good range of options, from late-season ski trips to long-haul beach breaks.

Austria

  • High-altitude resorts often have reliable snow into March. Longer daylight hours and slightly milder temperatures can make spring skiing more comfortable for families.

Thailand

  • The east coast islands are generally sunny and dry at this time of year. Families will find a wide choice of beach resorts, along with activities such as boat trips and cooking classes.

Mauritius

  • March falls just before peak Easter prices in many cases. Warm weather, calm seas and well-established family resorts make Mauritius a straightforward long-haul option.

March and Easter provide a range of holiday choices, from safari trips to beach stays and spring skiing. Booking early and arranging appropriate travel insurance can help ensure a smooth trip.
