Travel insurance made for people with asthma, from a team that understands your needs.
At Freedom, we know travelling with asthma can bring extra concerns. Whether your symptoms are mild asthma or more complex severe asthma, your health shouldn’t stop you enjoying a well-earned break. That’s why we offer specialist travel insurance for asthma, built to protect you if the unexpected happens.
Over 5.2 million people in the UK live with asthma, yet many standard policies don’t automatically include insurance with asthma cover, especially if you forget to declare asthma during the application. The right travel insurance policy is essential to avoid problems abroad.
Imagine a sudden flare-up triggered by air pollution, strong scents or hidden allergens in your accommodation. Or losing your inhaler far from home. With Freedom, you’re protected. Our policies are designed with real-life risks in mind, including emergency medical expenses, lost asthma medication, medical treatment and cancellation cover. We make sure you’re protected from the moment you book until you’re safely home with comprehensive travel insurance cover that gives you peace of mind.
Whether you live with mild asthma or have a medical history involving hospital stays for severe asthma, we’ll help you find a suitable cover that meets your needs. We base our pricing on your current health and medical history, offering personalised protection rather than one-size-fits-all.
Whether it’s a city break or a longer escape, our team understands the needs of asthma sufferers and is here to help. For more advice, you can also visit Asthma UK’s travel guide before you go.
Our medical travel insurance ensures your health is supported every step of the way, no matter where your travels take you.
Applying is simple. You can get started online or by phone. We’ll ask for your travel dates, destination and details about your asthma and any other pre-existing conditions. Make sure to declare asthma and answer all medical screening questions accurately to ensure full asthma cover.
Once completed, we’ll provide suitable travel insurance for asthma options that include trip cancellation, emergency medical expenses, personal accident, baggage and more – all part of your tailored travel insurance cover. Please read your policy documents carefully so you understand exactly what’s included.
For parents: Children under five may show asthma symptoms without a formal diagnosis due to developing lungs. Please refer to their medical records when applying. Anyone under 17 must be on a policy with an adult.

Some of our most frequently asked questions.
Yes. We ask respiratory questions on a lifetime basis, so even if your asthma was in childhood, you still need to declare asthma during your application.
Yes, but you don’t need to send it to us. Your GP can carry out a fitness to fly test and issue a certificate which may be required by your airline. It’s also worth asking for an up-to-date asthma action plan.
Let your airline know in advance. Each airline has different rules and it’s unlikely you’ll be allowed to bring your own oxygen onboard, so check early to avoid complications.
