Bowel Cancer Travel Insurance

Designed for people with bowel cancer by medical travel insurance experts.

Travel and holiday insurance for people with bowel cancer

With such a large number of people affected by bowel cancer, estimated at 110 people diagnosed in the UK each day, Freedom don’t want this condition to prevent you from travelling abroad.

At Freedom we understand that no two cancers are the same and that’s why we look at each case on its individual merits in order to provide you with the best cover available. We know treatment can vary depending on the severity of the bowel cancer and we aim to provide cover regardless of whether you’ve been treated by radiotherapy, chemotherapy or had the tumour surgically removed. If you’re currently undergoing treatment and are a patient with bowel cancer, it can be more difficult to obtain full cover, but we will still endeavour to find you a policy which meets your needs.

The main advantage of obtaining bowel cancer travel insurance is knowing that in the event it causes a problem either prior to or during your trip, you will be covered for anything related directly or indirectly to the colon cancer. If for example you have a stoma in place due to an ileostomy/colostomy and this was to cause a problem while you are away ‘standard’ travel insurance wouldn’t necessarily cover you for this. If, however you have taken out a specialist insurance which specifically includes complications due to the cancer then cover would apply.

If you’re travelling with friends or family you can also elect to add them onto the same specialist travel insurance policy so that if any trip complications were to arise relating to either person, everyone on the policy would be covered to claim for this. This would include claims for cancellation of the trip or emergency medical treatment abroad whether it’s related to the bowel cancer or another unrelated medical condition.

Bowel cancer travel and holiday insurance at a fair price

We believe that just because you have or have previously had bowel cancer, it shouldn’t stop you from travelling or obtaining travel insurance. That’s why we provide a specialist travel insurance policy which covers your condition as well as any related complications, which has been made easily available through our confidentially online quoting system or you can phone us and speak to one of our travel insurance agents.

Our prices are based on a person’s current state of health at the time of taking out a policy, so if you are a patient currently being treated for bowel cancer or have been given the all clear, we will tailor a policy that specifically meets your individual needs, making sure you have the right level of cover for your trip.

FAQs

Some of our most frequently asked questions.

  • Do I need to declare my stoma bag?

With Freedom, you would just need to declare the medical condition. In this example – your previous bowel cancer, as this has caused you to have a stoma bag. You would be covered by our insurance for any blockages subject to your policy excess. If you are unsure what to declare on your medical screening, call us on 01223 446 914

  • Can I get an annual policy after cancer treatment?

Depending on your medical screening, potentially yes. However please be aware that we can be a lot more flexible with our rates if you are looking a single trip quotation as this is then based where you are travelling actually to.

  • I had my bowel cancer surgically removed 20 years ago with no further treatment since, do I still need to declare this?

Yes. Our medical question will ask whether you’ve ever been diagnosed with a cancerous condition, therefore, this will need to be included in your medical screening.
