There was some good news for travelers in this yeas budget in respect of air passenger duty. It was announced in the 2011 budget that there will not be an increase to air passenger duty until 2012. This is the first time since 2007 that there will not be an increase and will be seen as a much welcomed break for holiday makers as our air passenger duty is currently up to 8.5 times the European average. Prior to the budget there were fears that APD would rise again for the fourth year in a row, this rise would have been most noticeable for long haul flights. The fact that APD has been frozen for the next year is great news for holiday makers especially when you take into account the rising value of sterling and the many great package holidays currently on offer it should make booking a holiday a little less stressful this year.
