Icelandic scientist are now warning that we may be facing another volcanic eruption in the near future, this time it is the “Bardarbunga volcano” which is Iceland’s second largest volcano. Volcanologists believe the last time Bardarbunga had a major eruption was in 1477 which caused massive ash clouds making Eyjafjallajökull’s eruption last spring look minor in comparison.
This latest news could be another big hit for the travel market with airlines and tour operators having to cover the cost of grounded flight and cancelled holidays. It also highlights the importance for travellers to obtain an insurance policy which covers for independent travellers if they have not booked through a tour operator otherwise they like many people last spring will find themselves uninsured if Bardarbunga causes their holiday to be cancelled.
