Our travel insurance policies have an exclusion which prevents you for claiming for any 'circumstances known prior to purchasing a policy or booking a trip which may cause a claim'. Late on 11th March 2020 the World Health Organisation confirmed Coronavirus (COVID-19) has reached pandemic status. Therefore, it is reasonably foreseeable that it may give rise to a claim.
Any new policy purchased, or new trip booked which is covered by an existing annual multi trip policy, after 11:59pm (23:59) on the 13th of March 2020 will NOT cover any cancellation claim in relation to Coronavirus, including but not limited to, cancellation due to your diagnosis of Coronavirus, FCO (or any government body) advice or flights being cancelled.
We will continue to cover any medical claims because of Coronavirus if you are travelling to an area where no FCO (or any government body) advice against travel exists.
Any new policy purchased, or trip booked on annual multi trip policy will still benefit from all other cover including Emergency Medical Costs, Cancellation (Excluding Coronavirus) and Baggage.
Due to the recent FCO advice against all but essential travel to anywhere in the world for at least the next 30 days, we feel that there is a significant possibility that this will be extended further and therefore we are not quoting or selling any insurance policies for trips commencing before Saturday 13th June 2020. (If the advice is lifted, we will review our position). If you are planning to travel after the 13th June you will be able to purchase insurance now via our website or call centre on 01223 446914. These policies will exclude cancellation claims relating to the known Covid-19 Pandemic as above.
If you purchase a Single Trip policy with us for a trip commencing after the 13th June 2020 but FCO (or any government body) advice means you cannot go on the trip, we will offer you the option to change the dates on the policy for a new trip (subject to payment of any additional premium, if applicable), or to cancel the policy and receive a 50% refund of the total premium paid (If outside of the 14 day cooling-off period).
